Who We Are
The San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC), as an Organized Research Unit of UC San Diego, stands at the forefront of data-intensive computing and cyberinfrastructure, delivering vital resources, services, and expertise to the national research community encompassing both industry and academia. By fostering an accessible and integrated network of computing resources, SDSC enhances scientific exploration across diverse disciplines including earth sciences, biology, astrophysics, bioinformatics, and health IT, thus positioning itself as a crucial partner in XSEDE, the world’s most advanced collection of integrated digital resources. Established as one of the nation’s premier supercomputer centers through a cooperative agreement by the National Science Foundation in collaboration with UC San Diego and GA Technologies, SDSC has a rich history since its inception on November 14, 1985, underscoring its credibility and reliability in advancing scientific discovery.
