The company is committed to becoming a resource for knowledge surrounding environmentally sound and socially just computing, providing hosting based on solidarity economy principles and community interests. With accumulated expertise in implementing solutions, consulting, and project management for socio-technical innovations, Ecobytes actively supports Free/Libre and Open Source Software (FLOSS) principles by exclusively running GNU/Linux operating systems on its servers and contributing developed software back to the community under FLOSS licenses. Additionally, Ecobytes facilitates the migration to FLOSS by organizing training events, consulting, and assisting with installations, thereby expanding its reach to several thousand users through partnerships with grassroots initiatives focused on degrowth, transition towns, and solidarity economy, supported by four high-performance servers located in German data centers.
