Who We Are
The University of Oregon's Yamada Language Center (YLC) serves as a premier resource for language teaching and learning, offering comprehensive courses in 19 modern and classical languages that fulfill Bachelor of Arts requirements, alongside instruction in an additional eight languages. YLC effectively supports faculty and students across various disciplines, including Romance Languages, East Asian Languages, German and Scandinavian, Linguistics, REEES, Arabic Studies, and the American English Institute. Furthermore, it spearheads the Selfstudy Language Program, which accommodates the study of less commonly taught languages by facilitating tutor arrangements when three or more students express interest in a specific language, demonstrating the center's commitment to educational innovation and responsiveness to student needs.
